Well let’s venture away from that stereotype, and learn about the beautiful and earthy scenery that Vegas is also known for. There are so many facets to eloping in Las Vegas that are often missed, and how that can look for you and your significant other will be discussed further below!

 
 
 
 

 Las Vegas, NV is known for its beautiful landscapes including: drylands, rocky mountains, and unique rock formations. This beautiful desert landscape during certain times of the day, like sunrise and sunset, reveal the soft, earthy, and neutral-toned scenery that surrounds the area. This can make for a perfect backdrop where you and your significant other can elope!

Nearby State & National Parks

Mt. Charleston

Known for its winter snowfall in the spring mountains, and beautiful wildflowers in the springtime, Mt. Charleston is filled with several trails, campgrounds, and seasonal activities/events. You and your significant other can find various elopement and intimate wedding locations throughout both Lee Canyon + Kyle Canyon. You could then celebrate at the Mt. Charleston Lodge and book an overnight cabin! You could also have your wedding at the lodge itself.

Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area

Beautiful canyons with red and orange streaks, are stunning against the blue sky at this park. Red Rock National Park is one of the few that allows for up to 50 guests and you can rent chairs for you and your guests as well. There are two locations you can get eloped at: The Overlook, Visitor Center Amphitheater, Red Springs Boardwalk in Calico Basin, and Ash Springs.


Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument 

Established in 2014 to preserve Ice Age discoveries, this new national monument used to be home to animals of the Ice Age such as mammoths, lions, and camels. This rocky and mountainous terrain is along Highway 95. The best time of year to visit Tule Springs is usually winter (to enjoy mild temperatures) and spring to bathe in the warm sun!

Spring Mountain Ranch State Park

Located in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, this ranch is known for being the first β€œworking” ranch in Las Vegas and was also once a luxurious retreat that belonged to a millionaire. Known for its vast mountains and green plains, Spring Mountain Ranch State Park is great for hiking, a picnic, and enjoying other outdoor activities.

El Dorado Dry Lake Bed

Located in the depths of the Eldorado Basin, the El Dorado Dry Lake Bed is known for its vast large and flat drylands with desert views that span around 20 sq. miles. Getting married on a Dry Lake Bed is a great choice because it allows for creative focus on the bride and groom, because it naturally provides a blank canvas as a backdrop.

Valley of Fire State Park

Just outside of Vegas, an hour away in the city Overton, you will reach Valley of Fire. This park is unique in that it contains 40,000 acres of red and orange Aztec sandstone. Dating back 2,000 years ago, you can still see many petrified trees and petroglyphs. You can visit all year round, but temperatures do spike in the summer.


Death Valley National Park

Located near the border of California and Nevada, this park is known for being the largest national park in the continental US. It’s hot, dry and low desert lands are surrounded by towering rocky mountains. There are several hiking trails to enjoy with spectacular views and rock formations. Mid-October to mid-May are the best times to visit!


Zion National Park

During the Fall and Spring, drive to Utah’s first national park located in Springdale, about 2.5 hours from Las Vegas. As you’re passing through, you can enjoy Lake Mead, the towns St. George + Hurricane, and more! The park is filled with  narrow canyons and sandstone cliffs that hold neutral colors of creamy pink and red, making pictures look so majestic!


Snow Canyon State Park

Driving nearly 2 hours North from Vegas and heading to Utah, you will be encompassed by the different sculpted lava and sandstones on your way to your destination--Snow Canyon State Park. Located by the edge of the Mojave desert, the Navajo sandstone cliffs and lava fields are great for adventurous couples to hike, bicycle ride or horseback through the landscape.

The Doyle (Indoor Option)

The Doyle is a vintage treasure with beautiful, rustic, and old-fashioned designs dating back to 1949. Additionally, there is a large courtyard space with alpacas and event services available to cater to you and your significant other! Whether it be a ceremony, reception, or engagement party, The Doyle can service up to 250 guests. 

GreenGale Farms 

GreenGale Farms is a private, family owned farm that is known for its many animal rescues as well as its lush, rustic landscape that would be perfect if you and your significant other are looking for a beautiful and calm outdoor experience! Their launch date for their official website is coming soon, so book with them via Instagram.

Desert Love Events through Cactus Joes Nursery

Desert Love Events at Cactus Joes will take you to the desert of Las Vegas with amazing desert landscapes. Known for their unique event setups, Desert Love Events is a recent service startup, catering to those who enjoy the desert. Some locations to photograph at include Desert Love Ranch house and Cactus Joe’s Nursery. * Can only book through Instagram *

Nelson Ghost Town

Don’t be frightened by the name, because you’ll have a wonderful time exploring this historic landmark! Feel free to roam the ghost town (dating back to 1775) and enjoy a gold mine tour β€” first discovered by Spaniards in the area. If you are looking for a rustic, cowboy-inspired backdrop in the desert, Nelson Ghost Town is the place for you!

The Retreat on Charleston Peak

If you’re looking for a sophisticated, rustic retreat to get away and experience the beautiful landscapes of Mt. Charleston, The Retreat on Charleston Peak is for you. With lodges that are located 6700 feet above, stay here away from all the hustle and bustle of the city to relax with your significant other. Choose this venue for incredible views overlooking the mountains and valleys. 

Springs Preserve

With a variety of wedding packages including ceremony and reception (or ceremony only), Springs Preserve is a nature reserve located only 3 miles away from downtown Las Vegas. There is a wide variety of beautiful desert flowers and plants.

How to Get to Las Vegas

If you’re flying in…

McCarran International Airport

This airport is located in the heart of Las Vegas, with nearly 30 airlines that fly into McCarran International Airport. Some airlines offer direct flights, such as Southwest Airlines, Allegiant Air, Delta, American Airlines, Spirit Airlines, Frontier Airlines, WestJet, and Volaris. You’re only a 10-minute drive to the Las Vegas Strip, depending on traffic, or a 50-minute bus ride (and walk.) You can take a shuttle bus that runs from the airport to The Strip.

If you’re driving in...

From Los Angeles

Take Interstate 15 through the desert for around 4 hours, depending on traffic. It’s a total distance of around 260 miles (depending on what part of LA you’re driving from.)

From Phoenix 

The fastest route from Phoenix to Vegas, is jumping on Highway 93. You will be traveling for a little over 4 Β½ hours at a distance of around 300 miles. 

From Albuquerque 

A straight shot from Albuquerque to Vegas is on Interstate 40 West, driving a a little more than 8 hours, at a distance spanning near 600 miles.

 

 

Best Time to Visit Las Vegas

As you can see from the variety of locations above, Las Vegas might be known for the iconic Strip and the hotels that line it, but there are so many other incredible landscapes away from all of the hustle and bustle for your elopement.

Spring and fall seasons offer the most moderate weather, away from the summer heat β€” where temperates reach over 100 degrees fahrenheit. There are plenty of travel deals during this time too!

  1. Venture out of Las Vegas city center to find incredible spots that you and your significant may want to elope at!

  2. Explore other parts of Las Vegas rather than just the cheesy stereotypes of casinos, bright lights, and The Strip! The amazing landscapes that Las Vegas has to offer, will make for a beautiful and β€œearthy” backdrop.

  3. Certain locations require permits. Please make sure to familiarize yourself with permit regulations and rules in order to have a smooth elopement day!

  4. If you plan to get married in the summer, drink plenty of water, always wear sunscreen, and bring light-weight clothing (including your wedding attire of course!)
